I'm lucky, now I have another ECoS with problems :)
Got ECoS II with a little defect. CS was bought by previous owner, used a few times and stored on the shelf around 10 years.
And now it have a little, but annoying problem. A bunch of wobbling stripes on the left side of display. Stripes changes it position depending on images.
(Vertical waves is not a defect, it is digital photo effect)
So, disassemble little beast :) And start to touch wide flat flexible cable from main board to display. In some touch position stripes disappeared.
OffTop - ESU are clumsy. They used additional cable with a connector instead of ordering displays with a long cable. And that connector is fixed with a two sided scotch tape.
And another one - installed display is an extremely cheap :) Around $10 per unit for now. Just feel a right choice for the device with MSRP over $700 :)
Ok, now we take a liquid flux, soldering paste, soldering station and accurately resolder connector to the cable. Clean it, connect the cable, switch on - gotcha! Stripes disappeared.
My cats sent "Hello!" with their fur on the buttons :)
Assembly he whole station. Enjoying :)
For those who do not know how to solder such kind conenctors we have less elegant and more expensive solution. Go to Aliexpress and buy flat cable 15cm FFC FPC 60pin 0.5mm type B (inversed) and doublesided connector board for FFC FPC cable 60-pin 0.5mm ZIF. Change ESU cable to new cable with a new connector without soldering.
